Ken Brewer's Picture Gallery
Ken Brewer and his family sailed on the Australis from Southampton in April 1973, arriving in Auckland, New Zealand on 14 May of that year. Some abiding memories of the trip include being hijacked into participating in the crossing the line ceremony and one of the photos is of Ken being thrown into the ship’s pool.

Another memory Ken has is of the ship rolling side to side in moderate seas. On several occasions when walking down the long corridor to their cabin he would be walking on one wall, then it would roll back and he would be walking on the other side of the wall! Once Ken was in the pool when it started rolling, one moment he would be standing in ankle deep water with the rest of the water sloping up at a 30 degree (seemingly) angle at the other end. Then it would roll back and he’d find himself head and shoulders above the level of the pool’s edge.

Ken stayed firm friends with all of the people at their dining table for many years, and a few have remained close friends to this day.

Regretfully I am "running down" the S. S. Australis website due to increasing family and health issues.

I may occasionally update the site if I receive a great story/photos from ex-crew only, if it is a new contact.

I know there are still stories to share from ex-crew all over the world, who haven't yet been in touch.

I am deeply moved by the interest and wonderful contributions from numerous passengers and crew over many years.

Warm regards.
